ตรวจสอบง่ายๆ สตาร์ทเครื่อง จับท่อยางใหญ่ๆ หน้าเคริ่องน่ะ

 

ท่อจะร้อนด้านบน ไปเรื่อยๆ สักพัก เมื่ออุณหภูมิร้อนได้ที่ วาล์วเปิด ท่อล่างจึงเริ่มร้อนตาม

 

ประมาณนั้น ง่ายๆ หากเดี้ยง ถอดมาเช็คละเอียดตามนี้คับ

Why would you want the engine to run cooler? The OEM honda thermostat should allow the motor to run at the most efficient (i.e correct) temps.

 

Unless you have a dedicated track car where heat can be an issue, there are no benefits.

 

Cooler isn't always better in terms of coolant temp. For operating efficiency, wear and emissions, the OEM thermostat should be best, especially for N/A cars.

 

If there was a problem with excess heat, there could be some benefit...but you shouldn't run into that problem on the street. Constant flogging on the track could task the OEM cooling system...forced induction could contribute as well (turbo = big heat).

 

If you have or are getting a FlashPro, it'd make for some interesting datalogs to compare one to the other (perhaps the ECU adds/pulls timing based on coolant temp).

 

the engine is not going really run "cooler" with a colder thermostat - the thermostat is just going to open sooner

 

peak temps may vary slightly on the track - for the street, it would really be sorta useless (not to mention, the ecu would likely need to be tuned around it, as the fuel curves are, to a certain extent, temperature derived)

Sad that it takes Hondata to convince people about this issue. If you run a cooler thermostat, the computer will adjust the fuel curve and other parameters to run like the engine isn't fully warmed up yet. You don't want to be giving your engine full throttle UNTIL its in closed loop. This was even an issue on the 87-93 mustangs. People think cooler is better but in reality, it just makes your car run like crap.

Thermostat Information

 

It is very important to use the correct temperature thermostat in your cooling system, as the water temperature plays an important part in closed loop fueling operation.

 

Many people think that running a colder thermostat will keep their engine from over heating or that it will give some performance gain. This is incorrect and will just keep the engine from properly warming up. The engine should be between 185 and 200 degrees when fully warm.

Low temperature thermostats

We do not recommend the use of low temperature thermostats, as this causes tuning problems since the ECU still thinks the engine is still warming up.

 

For those who think low temperature thermostats stop their engines over-heating - what is the difference between a 160 degree thermostat and 178 degree (stock) thermostat when the coolant is 185 degrees, and both thermostats are fully open?

Lower Temperature Thermostats

 

Stock Honda thermostats are designed to fully open around 185 - 195 degrees depending on model and/or engine. Many "performance" thermostats are designed to open around 160 degrees. The intention of these low temp. thermostats is to keep the engine slightly cooler, resulting in more power and making the engine less prone to detonation.

 

We do not recommend installing a lower temperature thermostat because it actually makes the ECU "think" that the engine is still warming up and not fully at operating temperature. This fools the ECU into make fueling, timing, and idle adjustments that are not desirable under normal operating conditions or during tuning.

 

For those who still insist that a lower temperature thermostat will keep their engine from overheating: If an engine's coolant temp is at 205 degrees, what difference does it make if the thermostat opened at 160 or 190? None.

 

If you are having trouble with engine overheating we suggest repairing a clogged/blocked radiator, hoses, or engine coolant passages. If this still does not cure overheating, then an upgraded aluminum radiator with a larger core and/or higher cfm radiator fan should be installed.

Low temp thermostats do not allow the vehicles to get up to temp therefor causes issues in the long run

- Running rich/lean? Proper rich/lean tuning is extremely important. An interesting point: the Mugen thermostat and similar do not let engine ever warm up all the way so that tuning gets harder because the engine keeps adding fuel.
