Greasing your hand in DIY is another option, but you should have a steady hand and some DIY experience in house chores. Coming back to China stuff, even most of Ganesh idol you put in your car is today Made in China, just like adorable iPhone 5 !! Its all about QC. Even the lower end ( < USD 200-$250) projectors available at TRS are all Made in China or at best Taiwan (better still). What you have to do is be careful while buying. Look at the things you are buying thrice. You can trust an OEM HID bulb sold at $80 a pari in Aliexpress, for what US seller charge $100-120. But someone in China selling these for $30 is a scam. Similarly, you have to chose Ballast and connectors carefully. Chosing a reputed seller like AES Cars , is the first step as they usually dont tell white lies, even though expecting TRS kind of customer care from them would be wrong. At the end of the day, if you get what is shown in the site for lesser money, there ain't no harm. I strongly believe the $72 projectors I ordered from Aliexpress are the same being sold by US sellers for $118 or so, by carefully comparing the product pics and matching Mold artifacts, marking etc. Do you think paying $50 extra to US seller worth it. Coming to Indian sellers, they are no good than Chinese guys. Even if they are your old trusted guys, the knowledge of Projectors in most of average Autoshops is so low that finding even a Single guy in most of Class A cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahemdabad, even Mumbai is difficult or at the best one or two choices. Compare that with number of good ICE installers.So first checkout if you can find a guy in Chandigarh, Delhi etc. Else if you can keep the car in garage for 2 weeks, you can send the Lamp cluster to one of the guys in Pune/Salem and get the projector retrofit!!!All the best!!!
